It is called this because it symbolizes a tree containing a flower, which in turn contains a seed, which contains a tree. Thus, the seed holds within itself the image of the tree.
The source of Kabbalah comes from self-knowledge. Through one's own being, one can reach the Higher Worlds. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning to its course. All rivers flow to the sea, and yet the sea is never full. To the place to which the rivers flow, there they flow back.
